The Evil Within 3 Hinted at by Easter Egg From This Year's Hit

The gaming community speculates that a small easter egg appearing in the latest game from Tango Gameworks may herald the return of The Evil Within brand.

Extremely warmly received game from Tango Gameworks, Hi-Fi Rush, which debuted earlier this year, is full of references to the Japanese developer's previous games.

Of particular note here, however, is one easter egg, which - as indicated by the gaming community - may be not just a curiosity, but a carefully hidden announcement of a sequel to the survival horror game series The Evil Within.

Easter egg related to the alleged announcement of the next installment of The Evil Within appears in the cutscene preceding the chapter entitled Track 11: The Needle Drop.

The game's protagonists - Chai and his team - during the cutscenes arrive in an elevator to floor 776. While still inside it, the players - literally for fractions of a second - may notice the elevator's control panel, which displays a small message that reads: "Sequel to popular survival horror game franchise announced."

Considering the past portfolio of the creators of Hi-Fi Rush, the above announcement clearly seems to refer to the eagerly awaited by fans, the third installment of The Evil Within. Interestingly, it was even planned earlier, but was turned into last year's Ghostwire: Tokyo. Perhaps the idea has finally been revisited, however.

Of course, any such easter egg should be taken with a grain of salt, as this is not an official announcement. However, it's hard not to notice that in their latest game the developers of Hi-Fi Rush let players know that they still remember their horror IP from time to time.

It is worth recalling that the first part of The Evil Within debuted in 2014. The game was released on PC, XOne, X360, PS3 and PS4. The game by Tango Gameworks lived to see a sequel in October 2017. The second installment of the survival horror game series came out on PC, XOne and PS4.
